Summer shape up!

Happy Summer everyone! I apologize for being absent for the last couple of weeks. As school winded down and summer began, it was complete chaos for a while. The transition to summer activities, sports, swim team, get togethers and more came fast. Now I am finally in somewhat of a routine. Something I am really excited about is a neighborhood tennis team I joined with some friends. This is something I pushed aside for many years. I didn't want to be "one of those" neighborhood tennis women. I know, I know...sad but true. My husband bought me a tennis racket years ago as a gentle nudge to try it out, but I still wasn't ready. Finally some girlfriends decided to sign up for a beginner tennis league and asked me to join. The thought of having more time with my friends sounded fun, so I jumped on board. I started off not the best player, but after weekly practices, I learned to love the game and really enjoyed getting better week to week. I still play a couple of times a week including games and I love it. It challenged me physically to try something new and now I have a new passion. I think summer is the best time to push yourself a little bit and think outside the box in terms of what you normally would do. Try a new sport. Set a new goal. Sign up for a triathlon. Climb a mountain. You will never know what you can achieve if you don't give yourself the opportunity to try. Here are some tips to jumpstart your adventurous side:

1. What is missing in your life?
Start by working backwords. What is missing in your life? A sense of adventure? Your spiritual self? Not feeling good in regards to your health? Pick one area that you want to work on and improve in your life. Jot it down.

2. Think large
Now is time to think big. Get out a piece of paper and jot down as many ideas as you can in regards to your answer above. If you are lacking adventure, how could you bring this into your life? Sign up for a 5K? Try a triathlon with some friends? Try climbing a fourteener? Have fun with this list and try not to filter it.

3. Just do it
Now comes the fun part. Commit to something! Nothing really wonderful in life is gained by sitting on the sidelines. Pick something from your list above and move forward with it. I guarantee the end result will be amazing and you will renew something that was needing your attention. Ask some friends or family to pursue your goal with you if you need some accountability and support. Good luck!!
