Summer Sangria

Summertime and Sangria are two things that just go hand in hand in my book.  I'm going to call it "The Official, Un-official Drink of Summer!"

What's not to love?  Take some wine, add some crisp and sweet fresh fruit to it, pour over some ice and enjoy! The beauty of Sangria is that you can add your favorite fruits, you really don't have to be limited to any single one... if you like pears, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, apples... you get the idea!  It's what I like to call, wine enhancement!   You can make it with either red wine or white and I promise you're going to love both of these recipes.

Sangria is also perfect for parties... and with the 4th of July just around the corner, you'll be able to serve all of your guests with out breaking your bank!  One wine company that I've found that I'm absolutely loving right now, especially for Sangria is called CALNATURALE.  They've got a delish Cabernet Sauignon and a buttery and refreshing Chardonnay.  What I love most about them is that they come in these cartons... kinda like wine in a box, only better.  Affordable. Great wines. Check them out....

My favorite part about Sangria is picking out those deliciously drunk little pieces of fruit!  So full of flavor!

So back to "The Official, Un-official Drink of Summer!!"

RED WINE SANGRIA....

By the Pool Sangria Recipe

1 Small container of fresh raspberries

1 Orange sliced into small quarters

1 Lime sliced into small quarters

1 Green Apple washed and cut into small cubes

1 bottle red wine of your preference (I use CALNATURALE Cabernet Sauvignon)

1/4 Cup Triple Sec

1/2 Cup Orange Juice

1/2 Cup Pomegranate Juice

1/4 Cup Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar/water heat until sugar dissolves, then cool)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients together and let sit overnight in a tightly sealed container in the refridgerator.  Serve over ice! Enjoy!

WHITE WINE SANGRIA....

The more the merrier Sangria

3 oranges halved and sliced thinly

2 lemons halved and sliced thinly

1 lime halved and sliced thinly

1/4 Cup Basil Infused Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar & water with a few large leaves of fresh basil infused into it, then strain and cool)

1/4 Cup Brandy

1/2 liter of Lemon Lime Sparkling Water

1 Bottle of White Wine (I use CALNATURALE Chardonnay)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients together and let sit overnight in a tightly sealed container in the refridgerator.  Serve over ice! Enjoy!

*For both of these Sangrias, if you like them sweeter, you can add more simple syrup or even add a fruit juice or sweetened soda, Lemonade, Gingerale & Sprite are good in there too!*

*Something else I really love in both of these drinks is a bag of Trader Joes Frozen Mangoes chopped up!*

As always, drink responsibly!!

**As you guys always know, I'm not a sponsor for any of these items I promote... it's just things that I think make life simpler and well, tast better.  I really was excited to find this wine... it tastes good and is really affordable. To check out CALNATURALE click here!!  **
