Even Teens Like To Unplug

After school ended last week, we took off to Laguna Beach for a short family vacation. We only had that amount of time before high school sports kicked into session. Of course, my teenage boys packed the iPad, the iPods, their laptops, phones and were fully stocked to be connected all weekend.

But something magical happened when we entered the hotel, Surf & Sand Laguna (http://www.surfandsandresort.com/). We truly felt like we were on vacation, it felt special being right on the ocean. We went to the beach & the pool, had lunch, dinner & strolled the neighborhhod "main street." My kids never once got on their phones or computers untill winding down for bedtime. I couldn't believe it! I realized that like me, my kids are glued to their electronics and we all need a break. They wouldn't have taken the break at home.

The next day was a repeat of outdoor beauty all day long & nobody brought electronics. By the end of the weekend, we all felt connected to each other, appreciated our quality time together, felt refreshed & Sunday evening my older son realized that he hadn't been online all weekend & said it felt good!

So, I highly recommend a family vaca at this magical spot in Laguna or anywhere...& see if your kids can enjoy nature instead of technology...just for a weekend! It is possible.

Hi! I am a mom to two boys, ages 15 & 17. Parenting is taken to a whole new level now with teenagers. So to de-stress I do yoga and spend time at the beach. I love (trying) to balance biz, family and life! Im CEO of Moisture Jamzz, Inc., (www.moisturejamzz.com) a company I founded after having a "lightbulb" moment for a product idea. Moisture Jamzz have been sold in Bed, Bath & Beyond, Linens Things, spas, resorts, skin care salons and beauty supply stores. They have been featured in In Style, NY Times Style, Cosmo, Glamour, Redbook. We have private labeled for Estee Lauder, Bath & Body Works, Bare Escentuals...After years of people asking me how I built this biz from scratch, I wrote about to help others do it too! Your Idea, Inc. (www.YourIdeaInc.com) has received great reviews from Inc. & Success mags and is especially suited to people like me, who may be more creative than business-y! I truly enjoy helping others fulfill their dream of starting their own biz! How can I help you?
