6 Best Foods to Eat After Baby

Ok, new mommys, listen up!

I went from weighing in at about 162 lbs at nine months pregnant, down to weighing in at 122 lbs as of yesterday. That's right - I lost 40 lbs of baby weight in 3.5 months (Noella will be four months old in two weeks).

I have compiled a list of the 6 Best Foods to Eat After Baby. Whether your goal is to lose weight, produce more breast milk, or just plain get healthy; this list is for you!

Almonds

Why it worked: Kept me full. Great snack to keep in the car. Easy to throw into little snack baggies and keep in purse.

Nutritional Value: Relief from constipation, respiratory disorders, cough, anemia and diabetes. It also helps in hair care and skin care.

Blueberries

Why it worked: Easy to put in cereal, or have fresh from the grocery store.

Nutritional Value: Antioxidant-rich blueberries are an excellent for breastfeeding moms. They are filled with vitamins and minerals to keep your energy levels high.

Brown Rice

Why it worked: Filled me up as a side for lunch or dinner. Much healthier than French fries, cheesy potatoes, pasta or other fillers.

Nutritional Value: Healthy, whole-grain carbs such as brown rice keep energy high and helps you produce the best quality milk for your baby.

Oranges

Why it worked: For me, adding lots of Vitamin C to my diet helped me stay away from colds and congestion!

Nutritional Value: Breastfeeding moms need even more vitamin C than pregnant moms, oranges and other citrus fruits are an excellent breastfeeding food.

Spinach

Why it worked: Well, I have to admit, I don't love spinach but it sure beats Iceberg lettuce in terms of nutrients!!

Nutritional Value: Spinach is filled with vitamin A, which your baby needs... its a non-dairy source of dietary calcium. Best of all, green veggies are filled with heart-healthy antioxidants, they're low calorie. Yay!

Water

Why it worked: Must drink water. Period. This flushed my body daily, kept me hydrated and helped me lose weight.

Nutritional Value: Helps with weight loss, helps with healthy, clear skin. Water is a natural remedy for headaches. Water helps with cramps, healthy digestion and fatigue. So, drink up!
