The Super Bowl teams will be determined by Championship
Weekend, which takes place this Sunday. If you have been watching so far, you know it has been exciting
playoffs. If you haven’t, I’ll give you a little rundown on who is playing in
the NFC and AFC Championship games. And if you just watch the
Super Bowl for commercials? Well, there’s one
commercial you must watch before the big game!
AFC Championship: New England Patriots vs Denver Broncos
The first game on Sunday are the two teams remaining in the AFC – we all know TOM BRADY right??! Married to Gisele. The girl who can breastfeed
her baby while getting her makeup, nails and hair done. Well, Tom Brady and his
team, the New England Patriots, are going to Denver to play against Peyton
Manning and the Denver Broncos. More of a reality fan then sports? Then you probably already know that Eric Decker, star of E! reality show “Eric & Jessie: Game On,”
also plays for the Broncos.
Two star quarterbacks will make for a great game on Sunday
at 3:00 pm on CBS, or you can just have fun watching how many times they show Gisele and
Jessie Decker from the stands!
NFC Championship: San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks
The NFC Championship
game on Fox at 6:30 pm is San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. While the first game hype is all about the “old“ QBs this game is about the young quarterbacks. San Fran’s QB Colin Kaepernick may only be 26, but he’s been under pressure before. Last season, he made his first start after QB Alex Smith got hurt and took his team to the
Super Bowl. Although they lost to the Baltimore Ravens, Kaepernick proved he has what it takes, and here he is, ready to win it all again this year.
And while you’ve probably heard about last year’s rookie QBs RG III and Andrew Luck, Seattle’s quarterback Russell Wilson was drafted that same year, late in the third round. Wilson is
having a great second season, taking his team to the NFC Championship game.
The Football Commercial That Will Make You Cry (In A Good Way)
If football doesn’t give you the chills, this story will! Seattle
Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman is the first legally deaf offensive player in
the NFL. Playing in the loudest stadium in the NFL, his inspiring story has gone viral.
Deaf
since the age of 3, Coleman wears hearing aids in order to communicate. He also
has his quarterbacks look at him while calling plays so he can read their lips.
In the Duracell commercial above, you see him taping up his hearing aids before the
big game. You also see the obstacles he’s overcome – being picked on at school, coaches
not being able to talk to him, being told to quit.
But as he said, “I have been
deaf since I was 3, so I didn’t listen.”
I’m going to share his story and this video with my 6-year-old and I hope you share it with your kids as well. It really shows that no matter what obstacles you face, hard work and
determination can help yo overcome anything to play in your “big game”.
