Chaos!

OMG, my head is spinning.  Returning from vacation is never easy, but when it rains it pours.  As soon as I came home and started to settle back into my office at ModernMom, my publicist started booking things like crazy.  I am not complaining, but I feel like I need a few more of me to keep up.  I know my busy mommy friends can relate to chaos.  Whatever kind it is – kids, work or a schedule like mine, it’s never easy.  With back to school right around the corner, staying organized is my only hope for survival.   This calendar is my saving grace.

This morning a started my day at 6am and brought my oldest daughter along so we could squeeze in some mommy time during my workday.

1st stop, KTLA morning news to talk about next weeks premiere of She’s Got The Look.  It seems so long ago that I was spending time with the lucky 10 contestants, and now the show is finally about to air on Wednesday night on TV Land. We also dished on the news about the stress that our kids are going through to prep for school.  In my house it’s all about which teacher they got and what friends are in their class.

Then we were off to The Grove to kick off Wella’s Professional Color Discovery Tour.  I did a bunch of press, interviews, photos, and talked with many women about educating themselves about hair color.  My daughter ditched me to DJ and I made the most of the usual paparazzi chaos.

Then we went to see Mark Zunino in BH, one of my favorite designers.  He made my finale dress for DWTS.  He’s AMAZING!  We did a fitting for my Emmy gown.  I’m still deciding who to wear, it’s a major process.  I can’t share any pics yet, but I’ll write a full “prepping for Emmy” blog. You can’t imagine the details that go into it.  E! will be shooting a segment with me so hopefully you can see the process.

Next week I’m shooting two talk shows, and doing SMT for SGTL.  That’s a TV event to get the word out about my new show. I’ll start  at 4am for hair and make-up, go live at 6am, talking about the show concept to 100s of stations across the country.  The hardest part is saying the same thing for 4 hours, trying to keep it fresh when I know I will have had ½ a nights sleep with probably 2 kid interruptions.  Then I have a huge ModernMom lunch mtg. Oh and I am on a tight deadline to turn in the last few chapters of my book.  I also need to finish up the rest of BTS shopping.  I have a P & G shoot next week which I will piggy back for the E! Emmy coverage.  I will be announcing the cast for DWTS with Tom on Aug. 30th, I am sooo excited and dying to know which celebs are booked for this season.  After that I will be shooting an editorial piece in my closet for US Weekly – weird how people want to see what’s crammed in there.  I better make some time to clean that up! In the midst of all that I am trying to squeeze in as much time with my kids during the last days of summer.  It all sounds and feels crazy, but I can’t complain!  I manage it with lots of deep breaths, early to bed, and family dinners to catch up.

OMG I wish I were back in St. Barts.  Breathe, breathe, breathe…  Thanks for the vent.
