Big News

I’m on my way to a 12 hr commercial shoot for a new beauty product. I can’t say what it is yet, gosh this business is so secretive until projects go live!  It feels so good to be working a lot already this year. 2010 is off to the right start! And well over due after 2009!!! When it rains it pours for me and that is just the way my life has always been.

A few things to catch you up on…my kids have gone to bed in their own rooms for 7 nights straight now, which is beyond amazing for all of us!!! Thank you so much for all the positive feedback and support.  Many of you sent in advice, which helped so much.  I’ve learned that having a plan, staying consistent and following through works wonders with children.  My next step is to keep them in their beds all night, but little by little I will get there.

David has been in Paris and in a funny sort of way I have felt like a grown up this week, LOL!  If your man never travels you may know what I mean. We’re never apart so it was a very different dynamic in my house.  I did a lot of writing, worked late night with my computer in bed, something I try to avoid when my hot man is lying next to me, and I even caught up on some sappy chick flicks.  My mom came over for dinner last night, we enjoyed a great meal, a glass of wine, and played cards with the kids. It’s nice to squeeze in some girl time, the older I get the more valuable that is for me.  And, the more I appreciate my mother as I parent my own children.

If you read today’s press release, the new show, “She’s Got The Look”, that I will be hosting was announced.  I am beyond exited!  I love the content, the message, and I think it will be inspiring to many women.  I have always said how important it is to feel good in your skin at any age.  I think beauty runs deep; it is a feeling and state of mind.  This show will bring out the best and the unknown in many women.  I am thrilled to join them and excited to watch women discover themselves in a new way.  Considering the fact that you must be at least 35 years old to enter the competition, I know that we will be dealing with depth, emotion, and a power that a younger woman has yet to discover.  I start filming later this month.  Will keep you posted on airdates later this year.

I was lying in bed last night thinking about my kids and the demanding production schedule that lies ahead for me.  I am so thrilled about the show, but it is bittersweet.  I feel like cherishing every moment with my kids until production begins, because I know days will be long, and time off will be short.  That work/life balance has always been a challenge for me.  I use to be home and I was missing work, while I was at work, I was missing my family at home.  It’s better now, because I give myself room to accomplish what I need to.    I love being home and I also love work.  I am very content in both spaces and fortunately my schedule allows me to be devoted to both.  The next month will be tough, but the kids will spend time with me at the studio, and all our evenings will be spent together, and sharing will become more about quality and less about time.

I thought about why I was feeling like cherishing the moments now and not every day…  you never know how life will change.  I am trying to make every day special.  I am trying to connect even more with my kids this year, as they are getting older, they have many more wishes, interests, and I think more needs.  As corny as it sounds, everyday is important.  Take nothing for granted because you never know what is around the corner.  Sometimes it feels like my oldest grew up overnight and now it’s all about her friends.  That’s inevitable, but I’m still going to enjoy what little time we have together.

Here is the press release!
