Getting intiMINT: Brooke Burke's New Lingerie Line
by Mona M
Even though her book title was "The Naked Mom," Brooke Burke certainly knows her way around an underwear drawer!
She started her career as a model, and now the busy mom of four regularly rocks the ballroom with her gorgeous outfits as the co-host of Dancing with the Stars - who better to design a line of intimate apparel for women who want to bring sexy back without sacrificing comfort?
So when BeachMint, an e-commerce company that offers products designed and created by celebrities, approached Brooke about starting up a lingerie line, it was a match made in heaven. "One of the things that attracted me to the BeachMint platform was the opportunity to interact with the consumer to develop the line together," she said. "The community feedback will help me continue to develop the line around likes and needs of the consumer."
The result of this collaboration is intiMINT - an exciting new collection by our very own Brooke Burke that includes signature lace thongs, briefs, boyshorts, bralettes, racerback tanks, robes, nightgowns and loungewear separates. Check out our interview with Brooke below:
What was the inspiration behind intiMINT?
I love lingerie and feel that intimate apparel is such an important part of every woman’s wardrobe. As women, we have many different moods - there are days when we need comfort, days when we want to feel sexy, days where we feel frumpy and days where we just want to lay around in our loungewear.
For intiMINT, I wanted to create a line that fits all of these moods. My inspiration was really to create a line of beautiful pieces that are practical, sensible, sexy and affordable so that every woman can feel beautiful all day long.
Why do you think moms will love your new line?
I think the first thing that goes when we become mothers is our “me time” - the time we spend on ourselves. I think it's super important for moms to bring their sexy back and to not lose their sense of self. We have to remember that we are still women!
Something as simple as intimate apparel - a beautiful pair of panties and a bra with a sexy detail - might help you feel like a sensual woman again. It can help you remember that woman behind the scenes, the woman you were before you had children. Trust me, your husband will appreciate it, but do it for your own inner Goddess too.
Lingerie is the first thing we put on in the morning and the closest things to our body. I know sometimes we only have five minutes to throw on our gear before rushing out the door to carpool, work or whatever other mommy commitment we have.... and as moms, I think we sometimes forget how sexy we are!
I want to encourage women to take style chances, add color to their wardrobe and learn to layer and have fun with the sexy pieces in the intiMINT line. Simply making the choice to dress your body in intimate apparel that is both comfortable and beautiful can make such a difference in the way you feel throughout the day!
Did you ever go through a time where you stopped wearing sexy lingerie?
I went through a lot of different phases, like most women do. Pregnancy, post-pregnancy, times when you don’t feel sexy, times when it's all about “What can I grab really fast that is really comfy?” And when we think of lingerie, we often think of frills, garters and designs that are just uncomfortable.
But I think it's so important to decide that you want to feel beautiful underneath your clothes. That's why intiMINT pieces are designed to be super comfy, so you can wear them all day and night.
And most of them are meant to be layered and shown... the hint of a lacy bra, a beautiful bandeau, strappy convertible bras that work with every kind of tank top, even the racer back bras are so fun!
What is your favorite lingerie to wear for your hubby?
Uh, anything! He’s French so c’mon... When I use to crawl into bed in my flannel bottoms and favorite t-shirt, he would sigh and say, “Again…?”
Now I can wear my comfy intiMINT loungewear with hints of lace that satisfy my mood, yet still are feminine enough to make me feel like a woman. And of course, there are also very sexy pieces in my line too.
How did you find time in your busy mommy schedule to launch a new line?
I’ve always been an entrepreneur. I love to stay busy and I love the opportunity to stretch my creative muscle. Time is definitely something that I don’t have a lot of, but when it comes to something that you really believe in, you can always find the time. Plus intiMINT is a solution to many of our wardrobe challenges - finding the right bra, what to wear under sheers, how to hide panty lines, what to wear on date night, what to wear underneath trendy baggy scoop sleeves and so on.
What advice do you have for moms who have ideas and dream to set them in motion amidst a crazy mommy schedule?
I think that there are a lot of moms that have entrepreneurial dreams or ideas, but they are afraid to take a chance because they are so overwhelmed with life, family, children and “mommy duties.” I think as women, we are extremely creative and I don’t think we should ever squash that creative energy.
I would tell anybody that if they have an idea, put it down on paper and make a plan. It seems simple, but merely writing down your idea is the first step to setting it in motion. I started BabooshBaby out of my mom’s apartment years ago. I had an idea and a product that I really believed in. I think it is all about have the self-confidence to try things, take some chances and to know that as moms we can still do anything.
Pursuing your own dreams doesn’t have to mean compromising or taking away from your family commitment. There is a way to have both!
