RSS Feed Directory

What are RSS feeds?

RSS feeds offer an easy way of browsing new content from many different websites in one place. To use RSS (which variously stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary), you need something called an RSS reader. The reader aggregates the feeds to which you subscribe, in most cases displaying content in an abbreviated form with a link to the full text or audio/video file.

How do I get RSS feeds?

There are many different ways of viewing and managing RSS feeds. Newer versions of some web browsers—such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Internet Explorer 8 have simple RSS readers built into them. Alternatively, you can download and install a standalone RSS reader or sign up to a web-based service. Google has a list of RSS readers—both standalone and web-based—for Windows, Mac and other operating systems. Once you've picked an RSS reader, you'll need to choose some RSS feeds. Look out for the RSS icons which indicate the presence of an RSS feed.
