Magnitude 6.0 Earthquake Off Northern California Coast

A large 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred Thursday afternoon 35 miles off the coast of Petrolia, Ca according to the US Geological Survey.

According to KTLA news, the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said that the magnitude was such that a tsunami is not expected. "However, in coastal areas of intense shaking, locally generated tsunamis can be triggered by underwater landslides."

There are no reports of damage or injuries as of yet.
