An American 11-year-old girl recently gave birth to a baby boy. The mother of the girl stated, "My daughter and baby are fine, and the baby is absolutely beautiful."

The girl's identity and location will not be disclosed to protect her and her family.

According to Fox news, having a baby at such a young age puts the girl at risk for a host of problems and injuries. Her body is not yet developed enough to hold a baby. The increased hormones as a result of pregnancy also put the a young girl at risk for problems in the future, such as stunted growth.

This pregnancy follows the news of a 9-year-old girl who gave birth in China. The youngest known girl to have given birth is a 5-year-old Peruvian girl.

How does an 11-year-old girl get pregnant? The psychological ramifications due to pregnancy for this young girl are huge. She is still a child dependent on her own parents, yet she now has a child who is dependent on her. How does an 11-year-old girl mentally recover from having a baby at such a young age?
