According to CNN, the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute confirmed that two people were killed Thursday night when a helicopter crashed into a mountain in the Dominican Republic. "We presume that they were U.S. citizens, part of a mission helping Haiti," Dominican Republic spokeswoman Rosani Zapata said.
CNN stated that the helicopter was owned by a company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Its flight path was from Santiago to Jimani in the Dominican Republic to Port-au-Prince in Haiti. The helicopter was on its way back to Santiago, Chile when it crashed.
