Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. The organization has been promoting morals and virtue for an entire century.
Young boys everywhere are a part of this strong organization. According to the Boy Scouts Website, in 2008, the organization had 2.7 million members. In honor of the Boy Scout organization's birthday, here is their oath and law:
Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country;
To obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
Law:
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
More than 1oo million boys have been scouts during the organization's existence according to the Boy Scout's Website. The boy's counterpart, the Girl Scouts of America, have been in existence since 1912, two years less than the boys.
