The Associated Press reports that Toyota will announce its plans to handle the Prius Hybrid brake problem early this week. The brake problem affects about 270,000 Priuses that were sold in the U.S. and Japan (100,000 in the US, 170,000 in Japan). There has been speculation that Toyota will issue another recall.
Approximately 100 United States drivers have complained that the anti lock brakes fail momentarily on bumpy terrain. Toyota states that the problem can be easily fixed by a software change. The problem is resolved if drivers keep their foot on the brake.
This problem comes after Toyota issue a recall of 7 million cars in the past month because of a sticky accelerator pedal.
