A series of avalanches hit Afghanistan Monday. According to the Associated Press, Interior Minister Hanif Atmar said at a news conference in Kabul, "twenty-four bodies have been recovered so far, but the fear is that there could be up to 40 more still buried and unfortunately, they might have died already. That's the best estimate we have at this moment."
Over 2,500 people have been rescued from their trapped cars.there are 400 people reported injured. "It happened all of a sudden and it took us by surprise," Atmar said.
They are using all possible means to rescue the remaining trapped victims.
