Skater Nancy Kerrigan's Father's Death Ruled a Homicide
The district attorney's office in Middlesex, Massachusetts ruled Kerrigan's father's death a homicide Tuesday. Daniel Kerrigan, 70, died last month. Nancy's brother and Daniel's son, Mark, is in jail on accusations of assault and battery against his father.
According to CNN, authorities stated that Mark admitted the he grabbed his father around the neck in an argument and his father fell to the floor. Police said that Mark was found intoxicated in the family's basement after the argument.
The Kerrigan family is upset by the district attorney's allegations that Daniel's death was a homicide. In a statement, the family attorney said they are "extemely disappointed" in the medical examiner's "premature and inaccurate" ruling. He noted that Daniel had a preexisting heart condition.
Figure skater Nancy Kerrigan is famous for being the object of an attack during the Olympics.
CNN reports that he is being held on $10,000 bail. His court date is set for February 24.
