Bethany Storro was celebrating her new job when a strange woman came up to her, said "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?" and threw a cup of acid in her face. This incident happened earlier this week. Bethany, a 28-year-old from Vancouver, Wash., is speaking up about the attack.
"It was the most painful thing ever," she said from the hospital Thursday. "My heart stopped. It ripped through my clothing the instant it touched my shirt; I could feel it burning through my second layer of skin."
Bethany described her attacker as a black woman in her late 20's. "I have never, ever seen this girl in my entire life," she said. "When I first saw her, she had this weirdness about her - like jealousy, rage."
Bethany was walking back after she bought herself a pair of sunglasses to celebrate her new job. Those sunglasses turned out to be a good purchase -- they saved her eyes from getting hit with acid, which would have probably caused blindness.
As a child, Bethany lost most of her hearing due to spinal meningitis. She is happy she can still see, calling it a "miracle." It's amazing that she is keeping up her spirits -- what a brave woman!
