Francesco Quinn, son of movie legend Anthony Quinn, died suddenly on Friday at the age of 48. He was reportedly walking home from store in Malibu with one of his sons when he collapsed on the street. He apparently suffered a heart attack, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.
The sixth of Anthony Quinn's 13 children, Francesco was born in Rome on March 22, 1963 to Quinn and his second wife, Iolanda. Following his breakout role as the drug-dealing soldier Rhah in Oliver Stone's Academy Award winner, "Platoon," Quinn appeared in a string of films inlcuding the New York Independet Film Festival winner, "Placebo Effect." He appeared with his father in "The Old Man and the Sea," playing the younger version of Anthony Quinn's character, Santiago.
Francesco Quinn had recurring roles on several television shows, including "JAG," "24" and "The Shield." He spent two years playing writer Tomas del Cerro on the popular soap opera, "The Young and the Restless."
Quinn is survived by his wife, Valentina Castellani-Quinn and his three children. ""Francesco was my soulmate and the best father for Sofia, Michela and Max," Valentina told the Malibu Patch. "I will love him forever."
