Church Offers Drive-Through Ash Wednesday Blessings
Need a little grace on the go?
One church in Ohio is making it easier for parishioners pressed for time to get their Ash Wednesday blessing... via the drive-thru.
That's right, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM tonight, the Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church will let churchgoers in a rush roll down their windows and get a blessing in the parking lot.
"Some people are very busy, and some people get a little intimidated walking into a church, this is for them," Rev. Patricia Anderson Cook told the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent - the 40 days of fasting and prayer leading up to Easter Sunday. In observance of this day, ashes are traditionally placed on the forehead as a sign of repentance.
But don't worry - in addition to ashes, Mt. Healthy will also provide a church brochure and Lenten booklet to parking lot visitors.
“It’s a drive-thru," said Cook. “Not a drive-by.”
