Simpsons Toys Banned in Iran

D'oh!

Dolls and figurines depicting everyone's favorite family in Springfield have been banned by the Iranian government, apparently solely on the grounds that they spread Western culture.

"We don't want to promote this cartoon by importing the toys," an official at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults told the AP.

Bart, Homer and the rest of the gang join Barbie on the nation's no-buy list.

Other famous characters are still allowed, including Superman and Spiderman, because - according to the Iranian newspaper Shargh - they help defend the "oppressed."

No word yet on Captain America.
