"My Breast Implant Saved My Life"
Forget helping her fill out a swimsuit - for one lucky lady, breast implants helped save her life!
When a 41-year-old Florida woman was attacked by her ex-fiance's new girlfriend, the saline from her breast implants had enough saline to stop the knife from piercing her chest.
The victim, who did not want to be named, reportedly told police that she was stabbed repeatedly in the left side of her chest with a pocketknife. After the attack, she was soaked with blood and saline.
Her doctor told WESH-TV that the salt water and walls of the implant prevented the blows from causing more serious injury.
"When you stab it, it gives a little. It probably gave and couldn't get through it, then it went through it and couldn't go through the back wall," said Dr. Frank Filiberto. "She would have had a collapsed lung or [the knife would have] hit her heart."
"It was the best investment I've made obviously," the woman joked in the interview. It was only three months ago that she made the decision to get the breast augmentation.
"It was just really lucky. Just think about it, three months ago, if it happened to her, she would have been dead," her doctor added.
And the good news just keeps on coming, as the manufacturer has agreed to cover the cost of the damage even though it isn't typically covered by warranty.
