Iowa Woman Gives Birth to Nearly 14 Pound Baby - With No Drugs!

A woman in Iowa delivered a baby who weighed nearly 14 pounds, without the aid of surgery or an epidural. Yikes!

Kendall Stewardson gave birth to son Asher at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on Thursday. The infant weighed in at 13 pounds, 12 ounces and may be the biggest naturally born baby in the history of the hospital.

According to hospital officials, only a tenth of 1 percent of all newborns tip the scales at more than 11 pounds at birth.

It took Kendall six hours of labor to deliver the baby, who was nine days past his due date. And perhaps even more amazing is that she gave birth without surgery or any pain killers.

The AP reported that she and her husband Joshua decided against a Cesarean delivery because it wouldn't have been good for her or the baby.

Joshua told CNN, "Whenever anybody hears about it, they`re like oh my word! And she`s kind of a hero." As for Kendall, she says it was all worth it for their new bundle of joy.

What do you think - could you deliver a baby of that size without drugs or surgery?
