Strange but True: Twins Born in Different Countries on the Same Day!

It sounds unbelievable but it's true! A woman from the U.K. gave birth to twins - in different countries!

Twenty-eight year old Donna Keenan and her boyfriend, Joe Fox, 24, had just returned home after a routine doctor’s appointment to watch the big football game (Euro 2012 Finals) on July 1. Her water broke an hour and a half after getting home, and her contractions started coming really fast.

They called the paramedics, but the baby was coming to fast. She gave birth to the first of her twin babies - Dylan Joseph - on the floor of her living room in Wooler, England.

The now mother-of-three said: "It was quite scary because we didn't know what was going to happen. The next thing, I was on the floor, and he was born at 10 o'clock."

The paramedics decided there was enough time to get to the hospital before the second baby was delivered, and drove Keenan to the nearest hospital, which was forty miles away in Melrose, Scotland. Fox and his mother followed in a second ambulance with Dylan, keeping him warm and safe.

Hannah Rose, Keenan and Fox’s baby girl, was born at 11:39 p.m. in the hospital.

Fox says he knew the babies were going to come that day, and he had joked that Keenan couldn’t give birth during the finals.

As for the babies being born in two different countries, he says it would have been cool for them to be born on different days, too.

“I joked to Donna she should hold on as long as possible - but I don’t think it went down too well!”

Wonder if the babies will be rival football fans as a result of their different "hometown" loyalties? In the words of their dad, "We will let them decide themselves as they grow up whether they each want to support the country of their birth."
