Barbie goes to prom!
Two teens in the United Kingdom made an unforgettable entrance to their big school dance when they showed up in life-sized Barbie boxes.
Emily Pounde and Hannah Jagger, both 16, finished off their prom look with giant plywood and Perspex boxes crafted by Emily's mom Christine. The custom packaging cost nearly $400, but "after all the feedback the girls’ entrance got, I’d say it was worth the effort," Christine told the Western Gazette.
On the big night, the boxes (with the girls inside) were loaded onto a flat-bed trailer and delivered to the prom.
Emily said she was overwhelmed by the amount of attention they received upon arrival.
"Suddenly everybody surrounded us and took photos, I came out of the box shaking, so many people were taking pictures," she told the Sun.
As for the inspiration behind the idea?
"We wanted to do something different and I really loved Barbies when I was little."
