Marine Brings Girlfriend's Rapist to Justice
It sounds like something out of a movie: A Marine's girlfriend tells him she's been raped, and he goes after her rapist.
But it's far from fiction. A former Marine from Texas (who has not been identified), found out that his girlfriend was raped back in 2010 when she was 17 years old by a 24-year-old man. She claimed that the man got her drunk and the next morning she couldn't remember what had happened... until he showed her the video he took of him and another man raping her.
She didn't go to the police at the time - not a huge shocker given that rape statistics show many victims keep it to themselves to avoid reliving the encounter.
When she told her boyfriend, he made it his mission to get retribution for the victim. He befriended the suspect - Eric Shawn Milner - and ultimately convinced him to show the Marine the video. In the footage, Milner and another man force the underage girl to perform sexual acts on them while she begs them to stop. She is clearly drunk and vomits and urinates on herself.
Once he saw the video evidence, her boyfriend took the matter to the police. Milner was arrested and is being held in jail on charges of aggravated sexual assault with a $50,000 bond. The video has been collected and will be used as evidence against Milner in court.
Women didn't need another reason to love a man in uniform, but this certainly helps. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up as a Lifetime movie in the near future - it's a great example of justice being served.
