Mexican Doctors Remove 33 Pound Tumor from Two Year Old

Mexican doctors have successfully removed a 33 pound tumor from Jesus Gabriel, a two-year-old boy.

The child himself only weighs 26 pounds (after the tumor’s removal), meaning that the growth was actually larger than the child.

Dr. Gustavo Hernandez, the director of pediatrics at La Raza Hospital, claims that this is the first time Mexican doctors have removed a growth that was larger than the person carrying it.

The two year old boy, who is from the northern state of Durango, was born with a small lump and over time, it spread from his armpit all the way to his hip. The tumor is benign, but by the time Jesus went under the knife, it was so large and heavy that it was beginning to constrict his oxygen intake.

The surgery was performed over a course of 10 hours on June 14th. Dr. Hernandez reports that the boy is recovering and doing well.
