Dreyer's/Edy's Ice Cream Gives Children with Facial Deformities a Reason to Smile
What could be sweeter than helping change the life of a child in need?
Dreyer's/Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream teamed up with our very own Brooke Burke to kick off "A Reason to Smile" yesterday in Los Angeles.
Throughout the summer, the brand is traveling around the country and giving away 25,000 scoops of ice cream to benefit Operation Smile - a charity that provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe.
They're betting the light ice cream - which has half the fat and a third fewer calories than regular ice cream - will make you smile. And for every “ice cream smile” captured and uploaded to Dreyer's/Edy's Facebook page, $5 will be donated to Operation Smile - with the goal of giving more than 500 reconstructive surgeries for children in need around the globe.
"As a conscious mother raising four children, health is always on my mind," said Brooke. "Dreyer's/Edy's Slow Churned Light Ice Cream is good for moms and puts a smile on my family's face. And if ice cream isn't reason to smile enough, now we can help raise money to help children! I'm so proud to partner with Dreyer's/Edy's to kick off the launch and raise money for Operation Smile, a charity that's near and dear to my heart."
Since its founding in 1982, Operation Smile has conducted over 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
"If we reach our summer goal, together we will be able to provide over 500 surgeries to children in need," said Brooke. "I invite you to be part of this powerful campaign."
