Tide Will Change Pods Lid Over Child Safety Concerns
Proctor & Gamble is beefing up the security on Tide Pods, with a new double-latch lid that will make the tubs more difficult to open.
The move comes after at least one child was hospitalized for swallowing the brightly colored detergent packets that can be mistaken for candy.
The company's spokesman, Paul Fox, told the AP the new lids will be on the market in the next couple of weeks.
Just last week, the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) issued a warning that people should keep highly concentrated, single-dose packs of detergent high up and out of the reach of children.
And obviously, "laundry packs, like any cleaning product, must be kept out of the reach of children," said Fox.
