Peanut Butter Recall Just Keeps on Growing
The recall that started with Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia peanut butter has been expanded for the SECOND time...
And now it's not just peanut butter that could put sandwich lovers in danger.
Many other types of nut butters made by Sunland Inc. have landed on the black list, including cashew butters, tahini (made with sesame seeds), blanched and roasted peanut products, and even organic brands like Newman's Own.
All in all, 101 products sold at several different major grocery store chains have been recalled in connection with a salmonella outbreak that has sickened 30 people in 19 states.

Target (Archer Farms)
Safeway (Open Nature)
Fresh & Easy
Harry and David
Sprouts
Meinen's
Stop & Shop Supermarket Company

So far, no deaths have been reported in connection with the salmonella illnesses. According to the CDC, the people sickened by the outbreak fell ill between June 11 and September 11.
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. It is most dangerous to children, the elderly and others with weak immune systems.
