NBC Skips Moment of Silence for 9/11
Some controversy in the news today:
This morning, President Obama led a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. EST while victims' families, the NYPD, FDNY and Port Authority Police observed the occasion at Ground Zero in New York.
ABC's "Good Morning America," "CBS This Morning" and the cable news networks all interrupted their programming to broadcast the moment.
NBC, however, skipped the moment of silence, opting instead to run an interview with "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" Kris Jenner about her family's reality show and her breast implants.
So while the rest of the country was taking time out to remember the moment when the first plane hit the World Trade Center, NBC was talking to Kris Jenner about her boob job.
The decision sparked widespread outrage from critics who have called the move "disrespectful" and "disgusting."
NBC was the only national general news program that did not carry the moment of silence.
Note: Acccording to the Inquistr, not all local NBC affiliates felt it appropriate to show the Kris Jenner interview during the moment of silence. WNBC interrupted Today to show locally-produced coverage for the moment of silence. The New York affiliate chose to air the moment of silence alongside all other New York stations.
