Apple Unveils the iPhone 5

The moment that tech-lovers everywhere have been dreaming about for months has finally arrived...

Introducing the iPhone 5!

Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts to unveil the company's latest and greatest gadget.

“We have some really cool stuff to show you,” he told the crowd of drooling tech reporters.

What's new about the iPhone 5? Check out some highlights below:

+ Made entirely of glass and aluminum, it's the thinnest and lightest phone Apple has ever made (20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S).

+ The phone can download up to 100 megabits per second and switch antenna connections between different networks when needed.

+ It has a fancy new A6 chip, which is two times faster at everything.

(See how fast?)

+ The display is bigger (4 inches as compared to 3.5 inches). Obviously, this means you can see more stuff - more emails, more calendar details, etc. There's also now a fifth row of icons on the home screen.

+ Camera improvements: new features include a dynamic low light mode, precision lens alignment, a new image sensor to improve photography and 40 percent faster photo capture. It also has a new Panorama mode that lets you hold the phone vertically and sweep a whole scene.

+ For the directionally challenged - there is "Flyover," which can give you virtual tours of any place you choose on a map, as well as 3D turn by turn directions.

(Apple - making it that much harder to "accidentally" get lost.)

+ Noise-cancelling earpiece to make calls clearer.

+ New charger/dock connector called "Lightning"

+ Longer battery life.

+ FaceTime over cellular networks.

And a bunch more cool stuff that you can check out here.

Pre-orders start this Friday, and the phone ships September 21 for 9 nations including the US, Canada, and the UK.

(Thanks to the beauty of contract renewals, my dad is NEVER getting me off our family plan.)

So what do you think... will you get the iPhone 5?
