Man Carjacks Vehicle to Get Pregnant Girlfriend to the Hospital

A man in Florida was arrested after carjacking a vehicle in a desperate attempt to get his pregnant girlfriend to the hospital.

Robert Boudreaux, 31, was driving his 22-year-old girlfriend (whose name has not been released) to the hospital on Sunday for an examination, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

She told authorities that the couple ran out of gas and walked for several miles before Boudreaux began unsuccessfully trying to flag down cars for a lift.

Finally, Boudreaux walked into the middle of the road, forcing a car to stop. When the driver refused to give the couple a ride, he threatened to shoot him. He later forced the driver out at a red light and got behind the wheel.

The driver called 911 after the pair sped away and officials caught up to them in a nearby hospital parking lot.

OK, while it's never ok to threaten another person with violence, to some extent you can kind of sympathize with this guy. He's desperate to get his pregnant girlfriend to the hospital and no one will help them out.

But here's where it gets weird.

Before stealing the car, the couple walked past a fire station and didn't ask for help. They also apparently didn't think to use the two working cell phones they were carrying to call for assistance.

Hm.

Boudreaux has since been charged with armed carjacking, fleeing or eluding and driving with a suspended license. Oh, and Volusia County Corrections records show that this is the 19th time he has been booked into the jail since 2002.

All that aside, the incident does raise an interesting question: How far would you go to get a loved one to the hospital?
