Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady who ruled for 11 remarkable years, has died at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke.
"It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning," Lord Tim Bell said, according to Reuters.
Thatcher served from 1975 to 1990 as leader of the Conservative Party. She was the only woman to serve at the British prime minister and was long revered for her personal and political toughness.

Legendary film critic Roger Ebert has passed away today at the age of 70 according to The Chicago Sun-Times.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning reviewer died from complications from cancer, just two days after announcing on his blog that he was planning to slow down or take a "leave of presence" due to a recurrence of the disease.
Ebert was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in 2002 and cancer in his salivary gland in 2003 and in June of 2006, he underwent additional surgery to remove part of his jaw.

After weeks of speculation, NBC has confirmed that Jay Leno will step down as the host of "The Tonight Show" next spring.
Comedian Jimmy Fallon will replace him as the host of the popular 11:35 p.m. time slot.
“Congratulations, Jimmy. I hope you’re as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you’re an old guy,” Leno said in a statement. “If you need me, I’ll be at the garage.”
The 62-year-old has hosted the franchise for more than two decades, although not continuously.

Not many people expect chain restaurants to be super healthy - but would it surprise you to learn that a whopping 97% of meals on the kid menu fail to meet nutritional standards?
A new study by the Center for Science in the Public Interest found that the overwhelmingly majority of children's meal options at chain restaurants in the US do not meet the recommended standards for nutrition developed by health experts.
