Celeb Dads Support Mother Earth!
![]() |
Last week, we talked about celeb moms who are doing great things for the planet, but it turns out celeb dads are doing their share, too. Here are two leading men who are saving the world in real life. |
Dad Matt Damon shows his "green" sprit through his work with GreenDimes, a service that reduces up to 90 percent of your postal junk mail. Each year more than 100 million trees are destroyed and 28 billion gallons of water used to create junk mail that nobody wants.
For a one-time $15 fee, GreenDimes hunts down the companies that send you junk mail and gets your name off their lists. The service not only drastically reduces your consumer junk mail, it also plants 10 trees for each of its members. Just think, if everyone signed up, there would be no more annoying junk mail, and more trees, too. People's recently crowned Sexiest Man Alive, Matt serves as a Green Dimes spokesman of sorts, often mentioning the org on various morning shows and in interviews and gifted the service to members of his family. On the other side of the pond in London, Colin Firth, father of Will, 17, Luca, 6, and Mateo, 4, has plans to open Eco, a boutique devoted to bringing fair trade and earth savvy products to London consumers. Firth, best known for his roles as the sexy good guy in Love Actually and Bridget Jones'Diary, and his wife and business-partner Livia will host art exhibits and designer trunk shows of environmentally friendly duds.
Eco will also sell green wares like organic cotton clothes and solar-powered cell phone chargers.
