Parents of toddlers!?

Is the best way to handle screaming and fit-throwing in a 14 month old, try to keep them happy, entertained, and distracted? Or to use stern voices, and no-no's!...?

I think you have to figure out your child's temprament and what works for them. For my DD, I stay calm and speak quietly until she is ready to listen. If that doesn't work, I remove myself from the situation and tell her that when she's ready to listen like a big girl, we can try again.

just don't reinforce the behavior. What we do is say calmly "(name of child), I'm really not happy with the way you're acting right now. I'd be happy to talk to you, but not until you calm down" and then ignore the behavior until they calm down.
