Should I eat breakfast before a work out?

I'm about 20 lbs. overweight. I don't want to drop down to a dramatically low weight, but I do want to look and feel healthier. As for my morning work out at the gym or run through my neighborhood, is there an ideal breakfast I should be eating that won't weight me down while I'm exercising? Should I even be eating before working out?

There or so many mixed feeling on this subject,I worked out for years on an empty stomach because they say you burn the carbs from the day before...but recently i started eating a banana before I eat I seem to have a more energetic work-out and last longer so i would say eat something small and easy to digest
