25,000 infant rattles imported by Lee Carter Co. have been recalled for posing a potential choking hazard.
The rattle’s handle is small enough to fit into a child’s throat – violating federal rattle standards. So far, no injuries have been reported.
The recalled rattles were sold at specialty craft stores nationwide from February 2001 to October 2011 for around $4. They are made from woven plastic and have a bell inside. The words “Lee Carter Company” are printed on a purple plastic loop attached to the handle.
Consumers are advised to immediately take the recalled rattle away from infants and return them for a full refund or credit towards a replacement product.
