About 21,000 gas dryers have been recalled by LG Electronics and Sears due to fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Why it's being recalled: The gas valve in the recalled dryers can fail to shut off properly, continuing to heat the dryer and its contents after the drying cycle is complete. High temperatures inside and on the exterior surface of the dryers can scorch the drum, as well as burn or damage the dryer contents, posing a risk of burn, fire and smoke inhalation.

A year after a deadly epidemic of bacteria in tainted cantaloupes killed at least 15 people, consumers are again doubting the safety of the summer melons.
A salmonella outbreak blamed on cantaloupes grown in Indiana has killed two people and sickened some 141 people in the past month, health officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Friday.
The outbreak, which began in early July, has struck consumers in Indiana, Kentucky and Minnesota. Officials are urging people to throw away cantaloupes bought recently from those areas.

Approximately 4 million Bumbo Baby Seats have been recalled because they present a falling risk to infants when they are placed on raised surfaces, which can result in injuries as severe as skull fractures, according to the CPSC.
The recall comes nine months after the government took the unusual step of issuing a warning to those using the product that infants were suffering serious injuries after falling out.

Highline Mushrooms, a farm in Leamington, Ontario, has recalled certain brands of their sliced white mushrooms because of possible Listeria contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is overseeing the recall and has issued a Listeria health hazard alert.
The affected brands are Highline Mushrooms and Compliments sliced white mushrooms, sold in 227 gram containers bearing a lot code: L4100805 and a best before date of 12AU15.

About 1.3 million GE and Hotpoint dishwashers are being recalled after a series of fires, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Why it's being recalled: The dishwashers are being recalled because of an electrical failure in the heating element that can pose a fire hazard. So far, GE has received 15 reports of dishwasher heating element failures, including seven reports of fires, three of which caused extensive property damage.

Why it's being recalled: The company said entrapment and strangulation can take place, particularly among those younger than a year old, when the child is not harnessed into the stroller.
