I've been thinking a lot lately about why I'm working so hard to live a healthier life, to get strong and get fit. I've found that the more clarity I have in this area the more I'm willing to do. My answers range from the shallow end (look good at the next event I have on my calendar) to the deep end (run around with my grandkids one day, live long for my children...) It really comes down to a desire to enjoy my life which I wasn't able to do fully while tired and feeling polluted. I want to be strong and have my body push me forward...not hold me back.
Quitting smoking was huge. It was...

Wow! 2012 turned out to be an amazing year full of positive life changes and obstacles crushed. Very excited about getting fit in 2013.
Our family faced the hardest of times while Brooke dealt with cancer but she's walked away largely unscathed and it is the biggest blessing and greatest gift to know she's ok. I'm excited to watch all that she does this year to make it count.
As she was healing and couldn't work out it became very clear how lucky most of us are to have the ability to get up and move. I was able to practice some moves from her screen versions of her videos. Amazing. I...

Last week I was able to drive out to California to spend some time with Brooke and her amazing family. Got to see her work at DWTS (amazing) and was really looking forward to spending her "day off" with her. We did have an amazing time but it went something like this.
Wake the kids, feed them breakfast, go to the grocery store to get ingredients for potluck celebration at Shaya's school, make the pot luck contribution, drive one to school nearby...drive the other through insane traffic accross town...come back...drink a shake...run to the workout (oh so brutally hard but amazing to see...

Weighed in today... a little scared as I was certainly not perfect on my recent travels to NYC...clam chowder couldn't be denied and ended up with a bacon cheeseburger (personal weakness) that no strangers would split with me. Still, I stuck to my efforts outside of these "cheats" and though 2.6 lbs may not seem like a huge amount to anyone else, breaking the 180 mark is HUGE for me. So very excited and now on to the next mark. Hoping to see Brooke for the first time in 2 months since we began the challenge and motivated to have the best visible result possible!
Good luck on your personal...

Weighing myself has generally been a depressing event...I know I do it too often and generally result are not pretty.
When I started the Sexy Summer Slim down and my 90 day challenge, my crew decided having a scale at home was a bad idea. "Mom, you can't weigh yourself 3 times a day!" I just want it so bad! So the scale was removed from my house and I decided to head over to a girlfriends for weigh in on saturdays.
The trouble is that I'm not always in town and she's not always home so I've opted for jumping on the luggage scale at the airport. It is amazing how supportive the world...

Happy Birthday to my amazing sister. This pic was exactly 1 year ago and 30 lbs ago for me. Brooke is an inspiration and has been so kind about my struggle with my weight and has included me in this massive effort with her and her closest friends to get SEXY! I'm forever gratetful on so many levels but truly excited to be part of her community. Brooke makes it look so easy though I know she attends to her health and the health of those she loves on a daily basis. I've watched her in the early morning hours putting out shake ingredients for herself and David, berries and nuts and grains...

Now that I'm a month into the Challenge and have had consistent success, I can feel more certain of what my future holds! I see health and strength and hope that I will be happy with my body. I don't know that I've ever felt this way before. I know that having more energy, sleeping better, seeing changes and getting stronger are all key components to my improved outlook. It just honestly surprises me when I wake up in the morning actually feeling GOOD.
I've exercised before, ate healthy before and had weight loss, etc. This time is different. I'm combining these things, not expecting...
