Cultivating gratitude is often listed as one of the steps to finding happiness and living a more positive life.  Studies show that grateful people live happier, less stressed lives. I don’t think it is any news that our culture has become increasingly aware that the media often presents unhealthy, or even fake, images of women in television, movies, and magazines. Models are often excessively thin.  Everyone is gooped up with make-up and hair product, and then redone with PhotoShop.  Actresses often have butt, leg, stomach, etc stand-ins. Thankfully there has been a backlash, a desire to undo unrealistic beauty standards, a drive to create new definitions of beauty. As November approaches, our nation’s political parties are rallying behind issues that inflame the division of our nation between progressive and conservative, wealthy and not-wealthy, educated and not-as-educated, white and everyone else.  Their bickering is intended to push people to pick a side and hold their stance firmly.
