Let’s Craft: T-Shirt Scarf

September 26, 2012 by Jessie Daye Leave a Comment

This project comes from Jessie Jane, founder of Lilyshop:

With winter just around the corner and tons of ugly old T-shirts cluttering your dresser, why not transform your wardrobe with a little do-it-yourself fashion?

This super-rad T-shirt scarf looks great in any color, and you can make them to match any of your favorite outfits!

Supplies

    • 1 extra large T-shirt
    • Scissors

    Directions

Lay your T-shirt out flat.  Line up the seams and the hem to make it perfectly straight.

Cut it off from the armpit down.  You can use a ruler if you like, but you can just eyeball it.

Cutting from side seam to side seam, make 1- to 2-inch strips of fabric.

Take the strips and line them all up on your hand with a side seam in the crook of your hand.  Stretch them out until the strips become rounded.  Leave one piece that you won’t stretch out.

Using the unstretched piece, tie a knot.  Use the loose ends of the knot to wrap around it so it becomes invisible.  Tie it off on one of the strips.

The knot will go behind your neck.

To spruce it up, you can do several different colored t-shirts and wear them all together.
