Easy Hairstyles for Curly Hair

Although many may consider your natural curls as a blessing, you may think it’s the opposite. Having curly hair can be high-maintenance. You use up more time and energy fighting with the knots and tangles than getting other things done. Fortunately, there are easy hairstyles that you can use for your curly hair that will require less time in front of the mirror. Opt for a style that will suit you best.

Loose Curls Updo

During the 2009 Grammy Awards, singer Taylor Swift wore her hair in a casual, loose updo that complemented her facial features and her outfit. To add volume, celebrity hairstylist Enzo Angileri used a medium-sized curling iron throughout Taylor Swift’s hair to add volume. Since you already have curls, you save time because you will not need the curling iron. Apply styling mousse or gel on your hair. Remove the tangles and knots with your fingers as you massage your hair. Then, gather your hair in one, quick movement just like how Enzo did with Taylor’s hair. Twirling your hair round at the back and placing a barrette or several bobby pins will secure your updo in place. Apply light-hold spray to keep wayward and frizzy hair tamed.

Wet and Wavy Hairstyle

Keep your hair down for a sexier you. The wet and wavy hairstyle is ideal for tight and medium curls. Towel-dry your hair after washing to remove excess water, but keep it a little damp. Then, apply leave-in conditioner for extra shine. Add gel or styling mousse and apply all over your hair. Pulling your hair using your fingers will ensure that the product spreads evenly all over your hair. Add hair relaxing cream to loosen up your curls a little bit. Tousle your hair until you achieve the desired look. Spritz light-hold liquid spray to tame the frizzes.

Ponytail

A ponytail is one of the easiest hairstyles for your curly hair. It is the best solution if your curly hair is not cooperating well, which is typical when you are having a bad hair day. Spritz your hair with water and apply liquid mousse. Brush your hair to remove the knots and tangles. Pull your hair upwards and gather at the back. Tying it with an elastic band will create a ponytail. Adding bobby pins will keep the hair secured. Applying medium-hold spray will keep the hair under control.

Afro

If you have tight, kinky curls, keep it in an Afro style. Cutting your hair short will lessen the volume. Keep your hair at nape level. Apply leave-in conditioner and hair relaxers to loosen your curls a little bit. Using a rattail comb or a teaser will remove the tangles and knots and give your hair a little lift. Apply hair wax and pull your hair with your fingers to tame wayward hair. Wearing a headband or bandana will help flatten the crown.
