Appetizer Recipes for Valentine’s Day

Start your Valentine’s Day out with a tasty appetizer. Select an appetizer that is equal parts whimsical and tasty to ensure that your special someone is adequately fed and ready for a night of romance. By selecting the right appetizers, you can create a cohesive celebration of romance for your Valentine’s Day.

Puffy Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon Hearts

Give your guy a decidedly romantic and decadent treat to start your Valentine’s festivities. To create these simple appetizers, purchase crescent roll dough, flavored cream cheese and thinly sliced smoked salmon. Roll your crescent roll dough out on a cutting board, and use tiny heart-shaped cookie cutters. Place them on a cookie tray, and bake them until golden and flaky, approximately seven to 10 minutes.

Allow your crescent creations to cool slightly, and then spread a flavored cream cheese, such as an herb or chive-infused option, on one side of each. Place thin slices of smoked salmon atop each, then pair them up, placing them together in sandwich style. Lay your creations out on a heart-shaped or bright red tray to make your presentation pleasing.

Cheddar Broccoli Heart Mini Quiche

Create a thematically appropriate and savory appetizer for your Valentine’s festivities. To craft these tiny quiche starters, prepare a standard quiche dough using your favorite recipe. Instead of pressing the dough into a pie plate, place it on a jelly roll pan, covering the entire bottom. Top your dough with a mixture of eggs, milk, cheese and diced broccoli, then bake it until the mixture sets.

Allow the creation to cool for about five minutes, then use heart-shaped cookie butters to cut out Valentine’s appropriate pieces of this savory treat. Place your creations on a serving tray and present them proudly to your Valentine’s Day sweetheart.

Sweet Start Strawberry Shortcake Bites

Valentine’s is the perfect excuse to start your meal with something sweet. Prepare sensual strawberry shortcake bites for your partner. Prepare a packaged angel food cake mix, and pour the mixture into the bottoms of well-greased muffin tins. Do not fill your tins completely. Instead, only fill them approximately one-fourth of the way to the top to create a thin angel food sheet. Bake your mixture at the temperature listed on the package, but reduce the time by three-fourths, as these thin sheets will bake quickly. Check often to avoid burning.

While you wait, dice up ripe strawberries. Roll them in powdered sugar to enhance the flavor.

Remove your angel food cake from the oven, and allow it to cool before pulling it out of the cupcake tins. Top your sheets with your diced strawberries and whipped cream to finish off your petite meal starters.
