Melissa and Tammy, one of the stable couples, announced the end of their relationship Thursday. “Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are saddened to announce that they are now separated,” Melissa’s rep told PEOPLE. Here at ModernMom, we are particularly sad about this one.
Melissa and Tammy exchanged vows in Malibu in September 2003. When the couple wed, they said in a statement, “We are so grateful for the blessings from our friends and family as we commence our vows, and begin the rest of our lives together.”
Melissa, 48, and Tammy, 35, have two children together. Tammy gave birth to their children, a son and a daughter, in 2006. The twins, Miller Steven and Johnnie Rose, were conceived via artificial insemination (courtesy of rock legend David Crosby!). Etheridge has two children from her previous relationship with Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean, 9, and son Beckett, 7.
Etheridge is also a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2004.
Melissa and Tammy add in a statement to PEOPLE, “We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period.”
