Teen Trend: Slutty Prom Dresses

Have you been browsing the department stores looking for a prom dress for your daughter? Have you noticed the trend of incredibly short, revealing dresses even in the teen departments? It’s unbelievable that the hoochie trend continues, and on a day when girls are supposed to dress up, they are dressing to reveal themselves. Scary. Look at the dresses below, aren’t you completely shocked these are even available?!

Teens Suspended

In April, 25 teens were suspended from an Alabama high-school because they were wearing ‘too-revealing’ prom dresses. They included mesh and see-through materials, or dresses that were too short and too revealing in the back. The students, reports CNN, had a choice of getting suspended or “paddling” — as in spanking! The students reportedly chose getting suspended. We researched some of the online stores selling prom dresses and look at what they had:

Advertising to Teens

One website states: “If your one of the many girls who are looking for something a bit more risque’ this prom season, then we’ve got just what you’ve been looking for. It shouldn’t be hard to find a prom dress that’s a little more revealing with cut-out silhouettes being all the rage this season. Although, it might be a bit challenging to sneak past mom and dad in that tantalizing number, but if your successful then your sure to catch more than a few head-turns at prom this year.” Wow — this is how they are advertising to our girls?! What’s worse, is the dresses that go along with it — would you let your girls out of the house in this?

OMG

Panoply Dress

This dress states the website Polyvore, will show off all “show off all your assets.” It also says by wearing it you will be “gawked at. This dress, despite it’s lacking fabric, costs roughly $370! Would you let your girls wear this?

Too Revealing!

Jasz Prom Gown

Lots of the dresses we saw had very low, plunging necklines — maybe ok for the red carpet or on the runway, but definitely not for a high school or Junior high school prom!

Night Moves

This dress is called “night moves” and it was found in a tween/teen store online! It’s $298 and wayyyy too cheap looking. Adding the big hair, heels and lipstick — too much too soon!

Bikini Dress?

Panoply Dress

Someone is bound to get suspended by wearing this dress! They may as well be wearing a bikini to prom. It has cut-outs and a barely there top, eventhough the skirt is flowy, it doesn’t make up for the top at all. There’s no way any of our kids are going to be seen in this get-up — not even on Halloween!
