The voluntary recall on 206,000 step stools sold by Target has been expanded. The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of an additional 341,000 step stools.
The Step Stools with Storage product, sold exclusively at Target stores and online at Target.com, has been found to collapse or break apart under the weight of the user, posing a fall hazard to consumers. There have been 27 reports of the step stool collapsing or breaking. Two adults experienced wrist fractures and another customer fractured her hip and pelvis. Scrapes and bruising cause by the faulty stools have been reported in six children and one adult.
The wooden step stool comes in different colors including natural, natural and red, white, pink, blue and honey. The recently issued recall includes all of the following step stools:
