Daily Baby: Regis Grandbaby, Islas New Role, and Dennis Gives an Update on the Twins

Morning show host Regis Philbin is a proud new grandfather! His daughter Jennifer “J.J.” Philbin
gave birth to a son, William Xavier Schur, on Monday, after 30 hours of labor, Us Weekly reports. Little William’s middle name has a special significance for his grandpa–Xavier was Regis’ confirmation name. Regis announced the news yesterday morning on his show, “Live with Regis and Kelly,” noting that William has “strawberry red hair.” Regis’ daughter and her husband Michael are both television writers.

Calling all fans of Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic books: The movie version of the first book, “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” has begun filming in New York and it stars new celebumom Isla Fisher, who gave birth to her first child, Olive, this past fall. “I loved the books,” Isla said. “I’m such a Sophie Kinsella fan. She’s such a talented writer, and it taps into the consumer collective conscience. I’ve done a lot of research – a lot of shopping. My favorite thing to shop for would be bags. I don’t have that many. I believe in recycling – you pass the bags on.”

Dad Dennis Quaid was on the David Letterman show on Monday and he offered an update on his twins, who were born in November and almost died due to a medical error shortly after their birth. “Things went wrong, very wrong there for a couple of weeks with them but everything’s good now,” he said on the show. “We have a very happy ending.” Dennis, who is starring in the new political thriller, “Vantage Point,” was seen in New York earlier this week taking twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace out for a stroll in SoHo.
