Experience Magic

November 18, 2010 by Wendy Irene Leave a Comment

There is magic alive in the world.  The first snowfall of the season is one of those magical moments.  When you wake up in the morning to realize there is a blanket of soft snow covering the ground, your heart takes flight.  The child within you is released.  Happiness and excitement burst.

Last week when we had our first snowfall, I lifted Little Sister from her crib and took her to the window.  She stared at the white glitter covering the roof and the gorgeous mountains in the distance for what felt like a long minute.  After the extended pause she said “I love it!”

That moment was following the huge burst of excitement Big Brother experienced 30 minutes earlier when he awoke and realized it was snowing.  He ran to each window opening the blinds so he could get a closer look.  He wanted outside and he wanted it now!

For quite a while the kids stood in front of the window and the sliding door simply watching the snow flurry down.  Every few seconds or so Little Sister, who will turn 2 in about a month, would point out the window and shout “Look snowman!”

Watching the whole thing unfold in front of my eyes, and feeling the incredible energy from my children added to the magic that was in the air.  A lot of times happiness comes when we allow the inner child in us to be released.  Often we suppress that part of ourselves.  Want to be happy?  Let the magic in, and the child out.

What brings out the inner child in you?  What gets you excited?  Please tell me.  I’d love to share in your happiness!
