Tech Camps for Kids

While some children love nothing more than getting fresh air during the summer months, others prefer to dedicate their summer to getting a leg-up on other students and exploring the world of technology. If your child is an avid tech-fan, he may enjoy spending his summer months learning a bit more about the ways in which computers work and building his software skills. Not only will your kid likely enjoy participating in a program of this type, doing so will help him return to school ready to ace his computer class the following year.

iD Tech Camps

At iD tech camp, children explore computer hardware and software and increase the computer literacy during their summer away from school. This camp offers an assortment of programs ranging in length and focus. You can select from a one-week program, open to 7- to 17-year-olds, or a more intensive two-week program, intended for already knowledgeable campers between the ages of 13 and 18. The iD tech camp holds summer camp sessions at more than 60 colleges and universities across the country, making it highly likely that you can find a location for your child in state.

Emagination Camp

The Emagination Computer Camp offers programs to children and teens in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Massachusetts. Emagination’s programs are open to children as young as 5, and ranges all the way up to 18. Each camp session features a different focus. Topics range from creating your own website to becoming a digital artist. Children can select between a day camp or an overnight tech-camp experience. Each camp is housed in a college or university, allowing participants to get a taste of college life while expanding their computer knowledge.

Tech Camps for Kids

This Erie, Pa.-based technology camp offers self-directed technology programs to tech-savvy students throughout the summer. Students who attend this camp can select from a variety of technology topics, including Lego design, stop-motion animation, video game design and bridge building. Throughout the sessions, the student will work independently on a project in his selected area, as well as work cooperatively with a group of children who share his area of interest. At the conclusion of the camp, campers share their creations with friends and family at an open house. The Tech Camp program is a day camp running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and runs for eight weeks during the summer.
