3 Steps to Relieve Anxiety and Return to The Now

June 12, 2012 by Wendy Irene Leave a Comment

Now that we know how important being the observer and living in the present moment is, let’s try a visualisation technique that will help you accomplish both.

Let’s say you’re stressed out. You’re feeling some anxiety or that you might react in a way that is not in line with your heart in a stressful situation. What can you do to reboot?

3 Steps to Relieve Anxiety and Return to ‘The Now’

1. Start out by closing your eyes.

2. Take 3 deep breaths.

3. Begin to picture a beautiful spot in nature. Sitting under a large tree on a beautiful day, with a babbling stream flowing in front of you, and gorgeous vibrant flowers and plants blooming all around. Birds are chirping a cheerful melody. In this spot peace surrounds you. Instead of picturing myself in my mind, which is hard for me to do, I actually picture Buddha sitting under the shaded tree. However, it is important to note that the Buddha I picture is me. It is my true authentic self, or my higher self. The Buddha that I picture is the observer. Sitting back in complete peace, smiling and simply observing what is going on.

When you observe you are in the moment. When you observe you do not react. You are peace. You are love.  You are the smiling Buddha.

The next time you’re struggling give this a try and please let me know how it works for you.

Share your vision with me – In your peaceful spot, what do you see? What sounds do you hear, if any? What does your oasis within look like in your mind’s eye?
Please do share in the comments below, I’d love to hear!
